Jackpot

Last weekend I went to JoAnn's Fabrics to purchase more jersey knit fabric to make more skirts like this.  I made one Saturday with fabric I had purchased from a coworker that was cleaning out her sewing room.  She is also the one that mentored me in returning to sewing.  My Mimi was the one whom originally introduced me to this trade; an ode to her another day.

I did pick up some nice hot pink fabric to make the skirt out of as well as a tribal knit and a pattern for a dolman sleeve top.  I'm excited to work on that this weekend since we have 3 days off.  What really got me excited was that as I was leaving JoAnn's, I noticed a Goodwill in the same parking lot.  I have only been to this particular area once before and had not noticed the Goodwill.  Having some time to spare, I decided to go check it out as I was in a pretty nice part of town.

I ended up walking out of Goodwill with a black NY&Co. maxi skirt, a black Tommy Hilfiger shirt dress, and a tweed Ralph by Ralph Lauren blazer for.....(drumroll please!) $13.87!!!

I know some people don't get excited about thrift store shopping, but lately I had been feeling like my "thrifting sense" had failed me or left me altogether.  This trip to Goodwill gave me the sense that maybe it had just been on hiatus.  Needless to say, I was very excited about my purchases.  I can't wait to wear the shirt dress to school.  I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the blazer or try to resell it.  As for the maxi skirt, I've been living in them lately and already wore it to an event the youth at my church was putting on and I was partly responsible for.

On another note, please, pray for me.  This weekend my youth pastor and his beautiful wife are going to the beach and I am going to teach the youth their bible study Sunday evening.  I am excited and nervous regardless of the fact that this is what I do for a living.
