A little Christmas diddy

Happy Christmas Eve!!

Twas the night before Christmas in the Adirondacks.
People were trudging through snow, leaving tracks.
Mittens on hands and hats on their heads,
Preparing themselves for the man in the sled.

Sipping on wine and reminiscing of pasts.
Wishing the holiday season could last.
The skiers on mountains, the skaters on ice
Frolicking in snow and playing nice.

Come in from the cold to take a short rest
Sharing what slopes are surely the best.
Cozying up by the fire with a cup of cocoa,
Admiring the new falling snow.

Warming their hands by the fireplace
Gearing back up to ski Whiteface.
Riding the chairlift up to the peak,
Skiing top to bottom as we speak.

Bobsledders navigating the run
Tourists and visitors observing the fun.
Shop windows full of allure,
Folks admiring the lights and colors.

Spending the day enjoying the season,
Sharing the evening, celebrating the reason.
Families are gathered to share precious time.
Children all asking, "What gift is mine?"

Houses are resting after Santa's visit.
Children sneaking out to peek at the presents.
Waking up early to see smiles of joy
On the faces of each little girl and boy.
