Thrift Score!

Sooo...you know how I said this month would be Fashion Freeze February?  Well, how about yes, but thrift stores don't count.  There are just some items you can't pass up when you catch them at a thrift.

For instance, this vest.  I've shared before that at the thrift store I frequent in the town I work in (PTA thrift store that earns money for our school system) if you volunteer, you get half off most items while working.  There are a few areas that are excluded from this amazing deal including the "boutique" area.

As I was rehanging some clothing that had fallen I noticed this vest in the men's section of the boutique.  I loved the tartan lining and the color.  As I looked closer, I realized it was NWT (new with tags) from Crewcuts!!  For those of you that don't have kids, Crewcuts is JCrew for kids.  This vest is a boys XXL.  I paid a hot $5 for it!  Pretty sure it retailed for at least $70.  Yay me!

Here is how I styled it the very next day:

It's been unusually warm for February so a vest is perfect outerwear right now in NC.  Since its supposed to be 60 degrees, I opted not to wear tights.  I matched the thrifted vest with a thrifted skirt and some Old Navy outlet finds.
Outfit Deets:
Vest: Thrifted (Crewcuts) $5
Cardigan: Old Navy Outlet $13
Shirt: Old Navy Outlet $16
Skirt: Thrift $3
Necklace: Stella & Dot free (used hostess points)
Boots: Steve Madden $50

Minus the boots this outfit is only $36!!

  10. LOVE this vest ... and how you layered it with a skirt. I have a vest almost identical (and thrifted) that I have only worn with jeans but I am going to try this look! Just found you on Thrifters Anonymous. Great blog, I am going to start following you!
