Vacation Randoms

Blazer: Dillards (similar for a great price!), Sweater: JCrew factory, Jeans: GAP (similar), Shoes: Sanuk

Last week while we were in Charleston for vacation, we took in some of the best sites.  It ended up being a fantastic, but much chillier than anticipated, trip.  I relied on my blazer and GAP boyfriend jeans for the majority of our sight-seeing.

We've both agreed that the best thing we did on our trip was our culinary tour.  This is exactly what it sounds like: a glutton-ful, multiple hour, marathon feast across several of the best restaurants Charleston has to offer.  And, no, we didn't just get one or two bites of food at each one...we got three or four plates at each one.  Literally, we ate from 2:00-5:00 in the afternoon.  Thank God I skipped breakfast and lunch that day and by the time a legit dinner time came around, I was experiencing food coma/hangover.  I think its a real thing.

We also visited a beautiful plantation.  It was interesting to see where slaves worked, how they lived, what their jobs entailed.  It amazes me to this day that slavery is part of American history.  Seeing how far we've come gives me hope.  I think its important that places like this still exist so that history might not repeat itself.

We walked and walked and walked and walked on the trip and I ended up getting a pair of Sanuk shoes after day two.  Ummmm...amazing!  Like, give my Toms a run for their money amazing.  They are made out of recycled yoga mats.  Duh?

I'm afraid we ate the majority of our souvenirs, but I did come home with a lovely Kate Spade bracelet and some gems from the shops on King Street as well.  And of course, our Christmas ornament.  Each place we visit, we get an ornament for our tree.  Do you have souvenir traditions?

I almost forgot!  The first day we were there we were at Trader Joes (of course) getting groceries for our condo and I swore up and down that I saw Elle McLemore checking out.  Of course, my hubs had no idea who she was, but I was creating quite the ruckus about the whole thing in the car as we were pulling out.  I decided to tweet her and sho'nuff!!  It was her!!!  And then I got really bummed that I hadn't had the guts to ask her and get a picture.  (*For those of you that don't know Elle is the new character, Holly, on Army Wives...quite possibly the only show I watch religiously that isn't reality RHOAnywhere drama* #noshame #sorrynotsorry)

While I was away, I definitely missed the bloggy world and I'm looking forward to catching up with all of you and reading what's been up since I was gone.  Hope you enjoyed my guest posters, and ladies, thank you again for being awesome while I was away!
