The Workout Jar

Perhaps your jar doesn't need to be a Workout Jar.

Maybe your jar needs to be a Laundry Jar or a Bible Verse Jar or a Swear Jar.

Whatever it may be, you can make it work for you.  We all have goals in our life.  There are things we want to accomplish; perhaps you even set resolutions at the start of the new year.  This jar can help you to achieve those goals.

This is how the jar works:
My goal is to get back into a regular exercise routine.

I realize I have a new baby and I'm still recovering/healing from delivery.  I need to set a reasonable goal.  So, I'm not going to assign a weight loss goal or a strength training goal.  Instead, I'm going to focus on moving and being active.

So, any time I make an effort to be active, I put fifty cents in the jar.  (In the past I've done a quarter.)  This means I could potentially earn $6.50 a week if I exercised each day.

I don't know how long I will go...a few months.  Maybe until I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

However long I decide, I do know that I will take all the money from that jar and buy myself new clothes that fit my new body when I'm done.  No guilt.  No using it for gas or diapers.  Me money.

Maybe you will take the money and get a massage or go on a trip.

Whatever you decide, work toward your goal and reward yourself accordingly.

So, what does your jar say?

  1. I need to think about what I want my jar to be. I've wanted to do this for a while now. I think it's a great idea....working hard on something for some "me" money!

  2. Thanks for sharing this on Funday Monday. What a great idea! I ahve struggled with my health (still don't know any causes), but because of it, I am constantly exhausted and my house suffers. Perhaps I ought to make my Push Through It jar. Each night I cook a meal, wash the dishes, I get a dollar! Or a quarter. I just know I get tired of being too tired to take care of things as I need.

  6. My husband says I need a leafy green jar. I really like vegetables, except leafy greens. They are just boring to me.
